The Girl Who Thought in Pictures: The Story of Dr. Temple Grandin

Reading is at the heart of our homeschool. When I find a good book to read, I like to pass along the recommendation. We recently had the opportunity to read The Girl Who Thought in Pictures: The Story of Dr. Temple Grandin by Julia Finley Mosca.

The Girl Who Thought in Pictures: The Story of Dr. Temple Grandin

Going through life feeling different isn’t always easy. It’s hard when you don’t feel like you fit in, wherever you go. This book teaches a lesson about being different, not less. Learning about Dr. Temple Grandin is inspiring!

Young Temple was diagnosed with autism. At one time, people thought she would never talk, but she did begin talking at age 4.

I knew this book would be an excellent learning opportunity for my girls. This is the first book in a brand new educational series from Innovation Press that everyone needs to get their hands on. The new book series is focused on the inspirational lives of amazing scientists.

Not only is this story amazing because Dr. Temple Grandin went on to be one of the most powerful voices in science, but there are also great illustrations, facts, and Dr. Grandin herself includes a message for readers.

As a mom of three girls, one on the autism spectrum, I enjoyed this book. Providing strong role models for my daughters is a high priority. The fact that Dr. Temple Grandin “thinks in pictures” like one of my daughters only makes this book that much better for us! I love the fact that this book raises awareness of women scientists and autism.

This book is excellent and I look forward to more books like this in the future.
