Education Perfect: Online Learning for Homeschoolers
Education Perfect is an online learning software designed for homeschooling families to supplement their current curriculum or to use as a stand-alone curriculum. Read more about how we’ve used it in our homeschool and how it can work for you.
Homeschooling Tweens and Teens
Have you found yourself struggling with a way to give your tweens and teens a little independence in their studies without sacrificing your educational goals or relaxed way of learning? It’s a common issue in homeschooling as our kids transition to being able to handle more academic responsibility.
This has happened in our own family as my daughters enter the teen years. We have to show progress for our homeschool portfolio reviews every year, but it’s not always easy to document our delight-directed learning ways. My daughters also want to have more say in what and how they learn, which is only natural – and actually a good sign of them taking responsibility for their education!
After trying a few different things, we found that Education Perfect has a great balance of structured learning (giving them independence and achievements) without being too rigid as to take the delight out of learning (sparking curiosity).
What is Education Perfect?
It’s an online homeschool software for ages 9-18 with engaging curriculum that includes 35,000+ lessons and 10,000+ learning videos. You can use it as a total curriculum if you want, but it really shines as a way to include interest-led learning at your own pace.
What subjects are included?
You can find all the major subjects you need, along with electives, including:
- Math
- History
- Languages (9 different choices including French, Spanish, Chinese, and more)
- Literature
- Science
- Geography
- Music
- Digital Technologies
- and more!
You choose what to assign as the teacher, or you can allow your teens the freedom to choose which topics they’d like to study. They can log in and learn anytime they want without a ton of planning or oversight on your part.
Assignments are automatically graded, too, which is a feature I know that homeschool parents can appreciate!
Every Education Perfect account comes with up to 5 student learner accounts, which means that the whole family can learn at their own level, for one monthly subscription price.
Extra Incentives with Gamified Learning
There is a games section called Dash where homeschooled kids around the world can compete based on their learning efforts.
Kids accumulate points as they work through lessons on this platform, and every question answered during regular daily learning earns them one point.
At the end of the month, every single homeschool child who answers at least 250 questions gets entered into a drawing for one of four $20 gift cards, and the top three learners each month receive a $20 gift card automatically!
There are other monthly competitions to earn certificates and prizes, giving them a sense of accomplishment and ownership of their learning. One of my daughters really enjoys friendly competition while the other does not like the pressure of competition at all. They can pick and choose what to participate in according to their comfort level.
What we like about Education Perfect
Education Perfect can work for multiple ages and learning styles:
One of the questions I hear most often from homeschool moms is: How can I teach all of my children at once? Education Perfect is something that can work for a wide range of ages and learning styles and take some of the pressure off of homeschool moms. You can take a relaxed approach or be more structured. It’s really up to you.
This is great because we know that cookie cutters don’t work for homeschooling. What will help one child to excel will stifle another. Education Perfect is flexible enough to adjust for that.
Education Perfect is self-paced:
You can set up the lessons and each child can work at his/her own pace. If they have mastered something, they can move on. If they need more work on something else, they can slow down. All of it can be done independently, too. Students won’t get overwhelmed or feel “behind” or pressured to keep up.
One of my daughters has special learning needs and deals with anxiety around academic performance and testing. She has been able to use Education Perfect in a very relaxed way while still learning without anxiety.
Education Perfect is multisensory:
I can’t stress enough the importance of multisensory learning. Even though it’s screen-based online learning, Education Perfect includes:
- lessons that the students read
- videos and interactive graphics
- audio lessons
- scratch pad for drawing and note-taking
- multiple choice questions
- essay or fill in the blank questions
This way it touches on different senses and styles of learning, making it accessible for all kinds of learners.
Education Perfect is user friendly:
They offer a Getting Started guide as well as a free Homeschooling Crash Course webinar. In addition to that, you can book a free 15-minute live platform demo.
With all of the tutorial videos included within each section, it’s not hard to get started right away and find your way around easily.
Education Perfect offers electives, not just curriculum:
If you want a full curriculum that is structured and mostly hands-off for you as a parent, Education Perfect can be that for you. However, you can also use it just for electives or topics of interest. I think that this benefit and the Dash section make it unique among other learning platforms.
For instance, one of my daughters wanted to study the Digital Technologies section. She’s learning about Algorithms, Computer Graphics, and Media Elements because it was something she was interested in. That’s a great opportunity for interest-led learning that will be helpful to her future career, too!
