Only You Can Be You: Celebrating Unique Purpose in God’s Design

Answers in Genesis

Unique purpose and God’s design are concepts that I continually emphasize as my daughters grow and mature. Our culture tends to demand conformity rather than embrace individual giftings or acknowledge that God’s purposeful design is evident in our world. This robs people of hope and joy, which is a shame to say the least.

As a mom of a child with special needs, I’m very aware that not everyone is accepting of differences. I want to focus on the positive, the good, the pure, and the lovely and teach my daughters to do the same. We can rejoice in our unique purpose because we know it’s God-given. He has a reason for everything.

Only You Can Be You: Celebrating Unique Purpose in God’s Design

Only You Can Be You: What Makes You Different Makes You Great by Nathan and Sally Clarkson shares this message in an engaging and hopeful way that children can understand.

With rhyming words and adorable illustrations, the mother-son Clarkson writing team shares truth that will give children hope, joy, and reassurance that God loves them as they are because He made them as they are.

Sally Clarkson has been my homeschooling and motherhood mentor for years. Ever since I first read Educating the Whole-Hearted Child and began to see lifelong learning in a whole new light, Sally Clarkson has been an inspiration to my journey and calling as a homeschool mom. I highly recommend everything she has written!

Some kids like to dance and laugh out loud, and some sit quietly and make up stories in their heads—but we’re all different, and that’s okay because the maker of everything made us this way!

In their first picture book, bestselling author Sally Clarkson and her son Nathan encourage children on the journey to discovering their strengths. Mother and son duo draw on themes from their first book, Differentthe emotive story of Nathan’s experiences growing up with mental illness and learning disabilities and Sally’s journey to loving him unconditionally. With the powerful truth that what makes you different makes you great, Only You Can Be You will help children embrace their differences and celebrate the differences in others.

The irresistible rhymes paired with Tim Warnes’ whimsical illustrations encourage your children with the reassurance they’re looking for in their own uniqueness. Whether they are quiet or artistic, funny or boisterous, your children will love this heartwarming read that assures them that they’re wonderful exactly as they are.

Pick up a copy of Only You Can Be You to add to your picture book collection at home. It’s more than just a good story with fun illustrations, it can help children appreciate what makes them unique and learn to find joy in the way God created them to be.
