My younger daughters (9 and 11) have been using this Bible during morning basket time. They like the drawings of polar animals throughout the text. Their favorites are the penguins, puffins, and polar bears.
These illustrations include life application questions, suggestions for further reading, vocabulary words, and prayers. They help to grab the reader’s attention and make the reading more memorable and meaningful, rather than just rote.
There are mnemonic devices and acronyms to help kids memorize important facts and scriptures, as well.
We have enjoyed the maps at the back of the NIV Adventure Bible. They work in well with our geography and history lessons, tying everything together for us. This kind of connected learning is the best for long-term retention and encouraging curiosity and lifelong learning.
The NIV Children’s Bible is the first Bible I ever read on my own when I was growing up. Now my daughters are reading the NIV Adventure Bible and it makes me happy to see them enjoying it and retaining what they read.
Another plus: the hardcover edition is very sturdy and affordable. It is also available in a Kindle edition.
I would definitely recommend the NIV Adventure Bible for Kids: Polar Exploration Edition. Especially if you’re homeschooling curious and creative kids who like to make connections in their learning. This would make a great gift for friends and family, too!
