I believe you’re never too old for Christmas or quality picture books. Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas combines both in one.
If you’re familiar with the devotional Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, you’ll recognize the signature style of this book by Ms. Young. It is beautifully illustrated by Katya Longhi.
Jesus Calling: The Story of Christmas
One of the things I like best about this picture book is the fact that it tells not just the Nativity story for Christmas, but the overarching story of God’s plan for Christmas since creation. His entire story played out through time — leading to the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
I think it helps kids to view the Christmas story in context of the larger history that God has been weaving since He created everything and everyone. It shows them the purpose inherent in it all.
This also makes it a story not just for Christmas time, but any time!
We added this book to our Christmas homeschool morning basket and have read it a few times already.
