DSST Exams: A Fast Track to Saving Time and Money on College

blog review disclosure

So you’re homeschooling high school and finally begin to gain a little confidence after your initial worries.

Then you realize that college is staring you in the face faster than you can say, “Holy transcripts, Batman!”

Quickly followed by “How are we going to pay for this?” and “Isn’t there anything we can do to save some time and money?”

Fortunately, there are some good answers to those questions. I recommend checking into Study.com and the help you can find there to get credit through exams to save both time and money.

How to save money on college with study.com DSST exams and CLEP exams

I wrote about using the resources at Study.com to pass the CLEP exams and how much we appreciated the chance to do that. I’ve just recently learned about the DSST exam options available as well.

What are the DSST exams?

The DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) offers over 30 exams that can help you earn real college credit in a fraction of the time for a fraction of the cost compared to traditional colleges and universities. DSST exams are Prior-Learning Assessments (PLAs), meaning they test your subject matter expertise in a particular subject to gauge your level of understanding. Passing these exams proves your mastery and grants real college credit, just as though you had passed the corresponding course at your college or university. This is how the CLEP exams work as well.

These were previously reserved for the military, but they are now open to anyone.
