5 Favorites from September {5 on the Fifth}
Like most busy homeschool moms, my reading time is limited. I love to read — to be encouraged, edified, and uplifted — and I often find those things by reading blogs by other moms like me. Because I appreciate the work and dedication it takes to maintain a blog and reach out to other moms, I thought it would be a good chance to give some recognition and thanks to other bloggers by participating in Marcy’s new monthly linkup, 5 on the Fifth, at Ben and Me.
I’d like to introduce five of my favorite bloggers and the posts I particularly enjoyed last month:
I’ve been reading Davene’s blog for a few years now and she always finds beauty in the ordinary, something that is a real gift. I especially liked her post last month about the first day of homeschool for the year and her thankfulness for that blessing in Tobin Drew a Bus.
Davonne is a relatively new friend to me in the blogging world. From the first minute I found her blog, it became a favorite! She shares helpful organizing tips, as well as posts about Christian parenting and homeschooling. She is one of the team writers on The Homeschool Post, too. You’ll want to read her 31 Days of Simple Organizing series this month!
Misty B. is another team writer at The Homeschool Post. Her blog is full of encouragement for Christian homeschool moms. I’m so impressed by how well she has done since launching her blog Joy in the Journey just a few months ago. I especially enjoyed her post, Mom’s Number One Tool.
Misty L is one of the most prolific bloggers I know. 🙂 She is goal-oriented, organized, and she’s following the Lord’s call on her blogging. I’ve gotten to know her through my monthly contributor position on Year Round Homeschooling, which is one of her many projects. I enjoyed her post Being Real: Homeschooling on her blog Beautiful Ashes.
Selena blogs at Look! We’re Learning! She offers many free printables as well as helpful advice for those homeschooling kids with ADHD. I recommend her series this month on that topic.
It was hard to narrow it down to just five favorites! I also realized that my list includes two friends named Misty and two friends named Davonne and Davene. What are the odds?
I hope you’ll come back next month to read more in this series. You can also link up your own posts here:

You’re welcome, Misty. It’s a fun link up. I enjoy your blog and think you’re a great resource for Christian homeschool moms. I’m glad you listened to that call to start blogging!
Thank you so much for your kind words and for featuring my being real homeschool post sis! <3
You are so welcome! I’m glad to have met you in the blog world and I enjoy all of your posts. You inspire me to improve my own blogging. 🙂
Sara, thank you so much; what an encouragement for my soul to be included in your list!
I had to blink a few times to make sure I was seeing correctly when I saw Davonne’s name. She must be a wonderful person, if she has a name like that. 😉
Thanks again, Sara! I appreciate you!
You’re quite welcome, Davene. I have been reading your blog for years and it is one I return to again and again. I love the way you capture those simple joys in life, even when the road isn’t easy. You always find the good in it.
Yes, I had to chuckle about the names. I didn’t intentionally choose my favorites for their names, but it looks that way! Especially considering they are unique names. 😉
