Between housework, kids, homeschooling, technology, and the hustle and bustle of day to day life it can be hard to find daily inspiration. But why is this even important? It is important to find inspiration in your daily life as it can help you feel happier, more productive, creative, and at peace. Even when things are hectic and fast paced, inspiration can still be found that can help make you a better person. Here are 25 ways to find inspiration in everyday life so you can live your best life and one that is full of peace, happiness, and creativity!
25 Ways to Find Inspiration in Everyday Life
1. Change your routine. Take a new way to work or the grocery store, or rearrange your schedule and try activities in a different order. It is amazing what you might notice with this simple change.
2. Try a new restaurant or a new menu item. Break away from your old standby and try something new you haven’t tried before but always wanted to. It is an easy way to awaken your senses.
3. Befriend someone in your life you have just been acquaintances with so far. This is a great way to learn new things and build a new connection. As an introvert, this one is harder for me, but I have made some good friends online through my homeschool mom and blogging networks. You can learn a lot this way, too!
4. Take time to read daily, even if it is just 15 minutes while waiting in a line. This is a great way to learn something new or even learn a new skill.
5. Take a few minutes to pray daily even if it is just 5 minutes. Opening yourself up to relaxation and a feeling of peace can stimulate your mind. Read this post for more ideas on how to find quiet time.
6. Exercise daily. Reducing stress and living a healthier lifestyle via exercise can help you enjoy more experiences around you.
7. Grow something. Even the simple act of planting a seed can help open your mind and stimulate your creativity. Try a small herb garden, plant a seed in a cup, plant some annuals or perennials, or even visit a local greenhouse for some inspiration.
8. Pet and interact with your pet. For just a few minutes a day this can help you feel less stressed and even lower blood pressure, helping you feel more at peace and at ease. If you don’t have a pet, consider getting one. Even a small aquarium can add to a relaxing atmosphere.
9. Cook something. Taking the time to experiment with flavors and feed someone you love can be so enriching to your mind and spirit.
10. Craft something. Paint. Draw. Create. All of these things help strengthen your creativity and help you feel more relaxed and at peace. I enjoy coloring books, which you might consider.
11. Take cues from nature. Take time to watch birds, smell flowers, and feel your feet on the grass. Nature is so inspiring if we just take the time to sit back and enjoy it.
12. Listen to music. Pay attention to the instruments, the beat and rhythm, and of course the lyrics. There is always inspiration waiting for us in music if we take the time to listen.
13. Try listening to talk radio. There are so many shows and podcasts out now that can provide you day to day inspiration. I have gotten hooked on podcasts from ProBlogger, EdSnapshots, Michael Hyatt, and others. I find inspiration in learning new things from them!
14. Watch an old movie. Old movies were more about a terrific dialogue and less about special effects. Take the time to listen to the words, absorb the sets, and enjoy the overall message. I am a classic movie buff, especially the old black and whites of the 1940s. They don’t make them like they used to!
15. Turn off technology. Take time each day to go tech free. No phones, no computers, no iPods or iPads. Turn it all off and enjoy what is around you. I don’t have a smart phone, but I do need to step away from my work and other distractions on the computer on a regular basis.
16. Visit a local library. Wander the shelves and explore all of the reading materials waiting for you. While you are there you can also check out old movies, listen to music, or enjoy any art work that is displayed.
17. Visit a local art museum or gallery. This is a great way to be inspired by the works of others and see how they can bring joy to your own life.
18. Watch your children play. Really pay attention to what they enjoy doing and what is bringing them joy at that moment. My youngest daughter loves to sing and dance all day long and her enthusiasm for life is contagious.
19. Talk to an elderly person. Hear their stories or just take the time to ask them how they are doing and listen to the answer. My Grandma was a great storyteller and I miss being able to talk to her and listen to her stories.
20. Enjoy some water. Whether it be via a hot shower or swimming, take the time to feel the water and enjoy it.
21. Read old letters. Whether they be letters someone sent you or examples of old love letters online, be inspired by their words.
22. Look at old photos. This can be old family photos or albums you have. This is a great way to connect to the past and be inspired by it when planning your future.
23. Clean your space. Throw away things you don’t need and find some organization. When you are in a clean and organized space, inspiration is sure to follow.
24. Help someone less fortunate. Many times we can be inspired when we come face to face with someone with less than we have in our lives.
25. Use your hands. Play with dough or paint something. The sensory act is calming and helps to clear our minds so we can focus, while inspiring our creativity.
