Watercolor Art Classes Online by Emily Lex
Watercolor art classes online by Emily Lex offer homeschoolers an excellent option to experience quality art classes right in their own homes. Read on for our experience with these simple and beautiful art lessons.
Online classes have become more popular than ever before. There are so many to choose from and it can sometimes be difficult to sort out which are really worthwhile. Homeschoolers can especially benefit from having an expert right in their own home via online classes, particularly when it comes to following interests and delight-directed learning like watercolor art classes.
Watercolor Art Classes
In the past, my oldest daughter had taken in-person watercolor art classes at a local community college. She did that for a year and a half and really loved it. She was even featured in two local art exhibitions and had offers to buy her artwork.
When we moved to a new state, we weren’t able to find a replacement for those classes and then COVID happened and in-person classes weren’t even a possibility at all. My two younger daughters wanted to learn how to do watercolor painting like their big sister so I began to look at different options.
My daughters and I recently had the opportunity to review watercolor art classes by Emily Lex. It was just what we needed for our art answer!
Watercolor Lessons by Emily Lex
Emily Lex is an experienced artist and teacher who makes watercolor painting accessible to all ages and abilities. I don’t feel that I have much natural artistic talent, but I was able to gain some confidence and really enjoy learning from these classes.
There are two choices available that we were able to review:
There is another course that we’re trying out called Simplified Penmanship that my youngest daughter (11) is really excited about, too. She is learning to do “fake” calligraphy and is having a blast making her writing extra special.
Online Art Classes
The student dashboard is very simple to use. Once you choose a class and register, you just log in and your classes are available there in your library. Simply select which class you want to do and begin the modules. Each module has a video art lesson so you can paint along with Emily.
You can access the courses from any device that has internet access. They are self-paced, so you don’t need to feel rushed to complete them. You can do these classes on your own timetable so you don’t ever have to worry about being late to class. As a busy homeschool family, this is a great advantage!
You can also re-watch modules as many times as you need to until you’re comfortable with the lesson and can do it yourself. I love the flexibility of being able to pause a lesson, too.
The courses provide a supply list, lessons on the basics to get started, and step-by-step video instructions to complete several cute projects. Read all about the details here: Watercolor for Kids
Additional Materials
We also received complementary art materials to go along with the online courses. These are lovely extras that enrich the art experience, plus provide encouragement along the way.

10 beginner-friendly animal sketches with examples to reference so you can practice your painting. Perfect for artists of all levels.

Display your Truth for Today cards in style with this modern brass holder.
These extra touches are beautiful and we love them! I have set up the Truth for Today cards in the brass holder on my desk to offer daily reminders of God’s love and grace. They represent truth, beauty, and goodness, which is at the heart of all we do in our home and homeschool.
One of the things I appreciate about the Emily Lex line is the simple beauty and faith-inspired delight. She makes it clear that she believes everyone can create something beautiful, even if you aren’t a natural artist, just because being creative is a worthwhile pursuit. I feel the same way! We need to take time to celebrate and appreciate our God-given creativity.
We haven’t completed all of the courses yet because we plan to take our time and enjoy them at a slower pace this summer. We’re really looking forward to making art together as part of our mother-daughter quality time activities!
