Marie Curie Unit Study

As a mom of three girls, I make a special point to study women’s history in our homeschool. I want to teach my daughters about positive female role models and encourage them to pursue their talents and educational interests. One of the ways I do that is by choosing a woman from history and doing a unit study. We recently completed a Marie Curie Unit Study.

There are many options for putting together your own unit study, but sometimes it’s just nice to use one that has already been prepared so you have an easy head start on it. I was able to find a Marie Curie online unit study from Techie Homeschool Mom, which made a perfect jumping off point for our lessons.

Marie Curie Online Unit Study

In this online unit study, you will cover the following modules:

  • About Marie Curie
  • Marie Curie: More than Meets the Eye
  • Women in Science
  • Project: Be a Scientist

Online Unit Studies are homeschool eLearning courses that integrate multiple subjects for multiple ages of students. Students access websites and videos and complete digital projects. With Online Unit Studies’ easy-to-use E-course format, no additional books and print resources are needed. Just gather supplies for hands-on projects and register for online tools. In other words, just log in and learn!

We watched the classic movie, Madame Curie, starring Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon. We enjoy black and white movies from the 1940s anyway, so this was a nice treat to go along with our unit study. It’s available as a DVD or streaming online with Amazon Prime video.

There are many books to choose from as well. Here are just a few:

If you’d like an easy introduction to pre-planned unit studies, I recommend Online Unit Studies. They’re designed by a fellow homeschool mom and cover many different topics, from science to history to holidays.
