Little Passports
For hands-on geography, we recommend Little Passports for the preschool through elementary years. Not only does it provide a hands-on activity for kids, they can look forward to getting a new package in the mail each month. It makes planning easier on homeschool moms, too. Win-win! It is available in World or U.S. editions. They send everything you need to create an interactive geography lesson that your kids will remember.
Now Little Passports also offers Science Expeditions, which are cool science kits that arrive every month with fun experiments!
And, the latest addition to the Little Passports is great for hands-on learning fun: Kitchen Adventures! Your kids can learn about different foods and different cultures while developing important life skills!
Creation Crate for STEM Projects
Another hands-on option in the science and STEM category is Creation Crate. They offer monthly subscriptions so planning is super easy. Everything you need for the projects and experiments comes with the kits. Open and go! What kid doesn’t look forward to getting a package in the mail? My daughters have loved these, especially my oldest who specializes in coding and 3D design.
Creation Crate covers coding, engineering, chemistry, and more for ages 10 and up. You can read our full review in this post: Hands-on STEM Learning with Creation Crate
Hands-on History
Lapbooks are one of our favorite ways to learn and follow interests. You can download a lapbook and print it out instantly, so this could be a nice educational surprise under the tree. Pick a subject you know your kids will love and have fun exploring! I recommend Home School in the Woods for their high-interest living history lapbooks, timelines, and file folder games.
The Draw and Write through History series is a good choice for hands-on history. Kids can enjoy drawing their history lessons and will retain the information well. If you have a child who likes doodling and sketching, this can be a perfect gift! The entire series is 31% off on CBD. Each book covers a different time period from Creation through to modern times.
Music and Art
Add a little music to your homeschool with some instruments. The Kalimba is affordable and fun to learn for many ages. It’s also known as a thumb piano. My daughter wanted to learn an instrument and chose this as the one to try. She was able to pick it up fairly quickly with no previous training or music lessons! It’s a pleasant sound that isn’t too loud (unlike drums, which was her second choice!) and it’s easily portable.
- EASY TO PLAY – Learning only within 5 minute to play Kalimba. AMORE Song Book will help you to easily playing.

I know homeschoolers are good at thinking outside of the box, so use this opportunity to show your imagination and give the gift of hands-on learning to your kids!
