Matters of the Heart: A 52 Week Scripture Memorization Challenge

As busy moms, it can be hard to find the time to be consistent with our devotional time every day. {I’ve written about 5 ways to find more quiet time here.} Sometimes I get frustrated with myself for glossing over certain Bible passages because I’ve read it before and it becomes easy to take it for granted. Isn’t that true with so many of our blessings in life? Our marriage, our kids, our home — all of these can be easily taken for granted if we don’t aim to be more purposeful and intentional.

I’ve set a personal goal to memorize more scripture in order to appreciate it. We are blessed with the freedom to buy and own Bibles in this country, which simply isn’t the case in too many other places around the world. I want to commit more verses to memory so I can pass this habit on to my daughters so they will grow up appreciating this freedom and the beauty of God’s word. We’re called to hide His word in our hearts and that’s exactly what I want to do!
