There comes a time in almost every homeschool career when outsourcing some classes is a good idea. Many times that happens during the middle to high school years.

It was true for us, even in our relaxed, delight-directed homeschool. As I’ve said before, there’s no shame in using outside teaching resources when it comes to your child’s education. Homeschool families are often fiercely independent, which is understandable. The point is that they get the education they need, however that may be.

My oldest daughter happened to be interested in technology — coding, scripting, programming, 3D design — which is all beyond my personal wheelhouse. We turned to online classes to get the courses we needed so that she could learn about web development and design and she’s now pursuing that as an entrepreneurial career choice.

I’ve talked with homeschool moms who have concerns as their children get older and into more advanced and diverse subjects. They ask things like:

  • What can you do if your child loves science and you don’t?
  • What if the thought of dissections turns your stomach, but your child wants to pursue a medical career one day?
  • With all of the online options out there, how can you find a solid choice?

I know these are questions that homeschool families regularly face, but there are some great solutions available to help you.

Greg Landry is the founder and director of College Prep Science. He’s not only a former college professor and researcher with 20+ years experience, he’s also a homeschool dad. He knows the unique challenges and strengths of homeschool families and has designed courses to work for them.

Personally, I’m glad to see that the classes are from a Christian worldview, too. I want my daughters to know that science and faith are not mutually exclusive.

So which online courses are available? Take a look at this list:

  • College Prep Biology (grades 8-12)
  • Life Prep Biology (grades 8-12)
  • College Prep Chemistry (grades 9-12)
  • Life Prep Chemistry (grades 8-12)
  • College Prep Physics (grades 10-12)
  • Life Prep Physics (grades 9-12)
  • Pre-Biology and Pre-Anatomy & Physiology (grades 6-9)
  • Pre-Chemistry and Pre-Physics (grades 6-9)
  • Exercise & Sports Physiology and Forensic Science (grades 8-12)

That’s a wide range of courses that could be just what you need to answer those questions about how to teach science in your homeschool!

Want to avoid doing dissections with your science-loving student? Greg Landry’s Lab Intensives (live classes) let your child complete one year of science labs in just two days (or both labs in three days)! The live, in-person, labs offered are for Biology/Anatomy & Physiology or Chemistry.

    1. No, I don’t have personal experience with the courses. I just wanted to share about the option for those who might need it and the giveaway they’re currently having.

My oldest daughter just graduated this year so she had already completed her science requirements. My other daughters are too young for these courses. I do have several homeschool mom friends whose teens have taken the courses and recommend them based on their own experiences, though.

I hope that helps! Thanks for stopping by.
