Build Early Learning Skills with Homeschool+

Homeschool+ is an online learning program offered by Age of Learning, the creators of the popular educational platforms ABCmouse and Adventure Academy. This program is designed to provide a comprehensive and customizable curriculum for homeschooling families with children in grades K-2.

I recently had the opportunity to try Homeschool+ and I’m happy to share my experience with it in this post.

What is Homeschool+ by Age of Learning?

Homeschool+ includes adaptive math and reading mastery programs, plus 10 individual courses covering Arts, Sciences, and General Studies. Each course consists of 12-20 lessons and every one comes with an offline lesson plan.

In addition to the lesson plans, Homeschool+ also comes with a lesson planner and progress reports. These tools are designed specifically for the home educator. The lesson planner allows you to move, add, and remove lessons which makes Homeschool+ highly flexible to meet the needs of homeschool families.

Homeschool+ offers a range of supplemental materials, including educational games, puzzles, and printable worksheets, to reinforce and extend learning. The program is flexible, allowing parents to customize the curriculum to suit their child’s interests and abilities.

Homeschool+ is designed to provide a complete and engaging learning experience for your early elementary learners, with the convenience of an online platform and the support of a comprehensive curriculum.

What are the benefits of using Homeschool+?

There are many benefits of using Homeschool+ by Age of Learning for homeschooling families:

Comprehensive curriculum: Homeschool+ provides a comprehensive curriculum that covers a wide range of subjects, including reading, math, science, social studies, and art. This can save parents time and effort in planning and preparing lessons, as all of the materials are provided in one place.

Customizable approach: Homeschool+ is flexible, allowing parents to customize the curriculum to suit their child’s interests and abilities. This can help ensure that the child remains engaged and motivated, which can lead to better learning outcomes.

Engaging materials: Homeschool+ materials are designed to be engaging and interactive, which can help keep children motivated and interested in learning. There is so much variety available that kids will love their lessons, rather than balk at doing them.

Progress tracking: Homeschool+ includes assessments and progress tracking tools, which can help parents monitor their child’s learning and adjust their approach as needed. This can help ensure that the child is making progress and achieving their learning goals. It also comes in handy if you need to keep records for your state homeschooling regulations. You can also feel confident as a homeschool parent that you’re covering everything that you need to for a strong educational foundation in math and reading.

Convenience: Homeschool+ is an online platform, which means that parents can access the curriculum and materials from anywhere with an internet connection. This can provide greater flexibility and convenience for homeschooling families who may have other responsibilities or commitments.

Adaptive math and reading: These two subjects are foundational to all learning throughout the educational journey. Homeschool+ adapts to your child’s skill level and tracks their individual progress, not just what was covered.

Our experience with Homeschool+

I’ve talked to many newbie homeschool families over the past few years and I understand that gaining confidence during the first years of homeschooling is a challenge. You want to be sure you’re doing enough, doing it right, and covering the foundations. I remember feeling that way myself when we first started out, too.

Homeschool+ can address those common concerns by providing a complete curriculum that offers a solid foundation in math and reading, as well as introduction to other subjects. It really shines with math and reading, in my opinion.

The math portion starts with preschool skills and progresses through about the second grade, or 4 years worth of learning. We don’t like to use grade levels in our homeschool, but it does provide a gauge of how much is covered in the program.

The reading portion also begins with preschool skills and builds to full reading comprehension. The online books are engaging and fun to read. It’s very convenient to have them ready any time, saving you a trip to the library or an online order. The books are reading level appropriate, so you know exactly what you’re getting.

I believe that kids in this age range learn best through play and multisensory experiences. Homeschool+ delivers a safe environment where learning is fun, easy to access, easy to track progress, and includes a great variety of activities.

As parents, we all worry about our kids spending too much time on screens. One of the things that I like about Homeschool+ is the balance of online screen learning with offline hands-on activities. It helps provide the multisensory learning experience that works so well, especially for that age group.

In addition to math and reading, arts, sciences, and general knowledge courses are included. Each of those topics comes with an offline lesson plan that is hands-on and interactive. It’s not required to complete these offline activities, but I think it’s great that they’re included for you in pdf format, making it easy to complement what your kids are learning online.

I wish I had this resource when my daughters were younger. I wouldn’t have hesitated to try it with them. We did use ABCmouse for a time as a supplement for K-1, which my daughters enjoyed. Even though I’m a firm believer in the power of quality living books for learning, I do think that technology has its place and should be used when appropriate. Children should become comfortable with using technology in a safe and productive way because it will inevitably become part of their daily lives as they get older and eventually choose a career.

Overall, Homeschool+ can be a valuable resource for homeschooling families who are looking for a comprehensive, engaging, and customizable curriculum for their young children.
