Want to add some Valentine’s Day books for kids into your homeschool days? I’ve gathered a list of 27 Valentine’s Day books for kids that will help you do that!
There are old favorites like Berenstain Bears and Curious George and newer favorites like Pete the Cat and Star Wars. One of our personal favorites, Amelia Bedelia, has been updated just for Valentine’s Day. All three of my girls have learned to read with Amelia Bedelia! 🙂
As you put together your book basket for Valentine’s Day, you might also want to make some of these Valentine’s Day crafts for kids as companion activities. You could also make these free Valentine’s Day cards. It’s always fun to include holiday activities in our learning time!

This is a board book in the popular Llama Llama series. So cute!
Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool
At first, Pete thinks Valentine’s Day isn’t cool…until he realizes all the special cats there are in his life. Pete the Cat: Valentine’s Day Is Cool comes complete with a poster, stickers, and twelve punch-out Valentine’s Day cards.
Another favorite in the If You Give a Mouse a Cookie series of books by Laura Numeroff. This is a board book so it’s suitable for young ages.
My Fuzzy Valentine (Sesame Street)
It’s Valentine’s Day and Elmo has received an anonymous valentine. Who could have sent it? He checks with all of his friends and finds the answer right back where he started looking—at home! Toddlers will love touching the fuzzy valentine on every page in this board book.
My daughters love Fancy Nancy, of course! Mystery is in the air when Nancy receives a valentine from a secret someone. Join Nancy as she follows the clues to find out who it is—all in her trademark fabulous style, of course. Gorgeous stickers included!

Cute rhyming verse that shares the importance of hugs to express love and caring.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Curious George
Curious George has been a favorite for all of my girls. His books always get a giggle. George and his friends celebrate Valentine’s Day with decorating, baking, card making and some unexpected hilarity along the way! Just how much mischief can a curious little monkey get into when balloons, frosting, and glitter are involved? Fold-out flaps on each scene reveal lively surprises in this humorous celebration of friendship. Sparkly red foil shines on the cover and throughout the book.
The Valentine Star (The Kids of the Polk Street School)
I read this series when I was growing up and now it’s another great one to share with my daughters. It’s time for everyone in Ms. Rooney’s room to make cards for the Valentine box. Emily Arrow couldn’t be happier when Dawn Bosco gives her some colored stars to decorate her cards. She plans to make a special one for Ms. Vincent, the new student teacher. Of course, there are complications, but you’ll have to read it to find out what!
Clayton and Desmond are back in this companion to the bestselling book THE BIGGEST PUMPKIN EVER! A sheet of colorful foil stickers is bound into the book for extra valentine fun!
Alvin and the Chipmunks: A Chipmunk Valentine
West Eastman High is hosting its annual Valentine’s Day dance, and Alvin, Simon, and Theodore need to find the perfect gifts for Brittany, Jeanette, and Eleanor. But when flowers, cards, and candy don’t cut it—what can the boys do for their special chipmunks?
I Love You, Snugglesaurus! (Made with Love)
Another cute board book. This snuggly dinosaur romp encourages little ones to stop their feet, clap their hands, and, of course, cuddle up real tight! Sandra Magsamen’s sweet, hand-stitched illustrations and loving message make this the perfect book to read and ROAR together.
The Very Fairy Princess: Valentines from the Heart
Mother-daughter team Julie Andrews and Emma Walton Hamilton have written another sweet installment in this series.

This adorable peek-a-boo book invites little ones to play along with their favorite animals, with soothing rhymes and engaging illustrations as only Sandra Magsamen can deliver. The anticipation of what’s hiding on the next page will keep kids guessing and giggling all the way to the surprise ending – when the final lift-the-flap reveals who’s loved most of all!
Be My Valentine, Charlie Brown
Valentine’s Day is here, but will Charlie Brown get a Valentine? While the rest of the Peanuts gang is busy making cards and buying presents, Charlie Brown is still waiting to see if his first ever Valentine’s Day card will come, maybe from that little red-headed girl! This adaptation of everyone’s favorite Valentine’s Day cartoon is a great collector’s edition and a perfect gift for your own Valentine!
The Berenstain Bears’ Valentine Party
It’s Valentine’s Day at the Bear Country School, and Teacher Jane’s class is having a party! In this fun lift-the-flap story, join Sister Bear and her friends as they share lots of special messages. Lift the flap to see what each valentine says.
