Thiel College: Why It Works for Homeschoolers
Are you prepared for your homeschool graduation time? Whether we like it or not, there comes a time in every homeschool family when homeschooling comes to an end.
These things tend to creep up on us as the days sometimes crawl and the years fly.
That’s the way it happened in our family, in spite of my best laid plans. My oldest daughter graduated from our homeschool recently and it just brought home the point even more — my two other daughters won’t be far behind her.
That’s why today is the best time to plan for tomorrow and start thinking about college options, especially ones that actively welcome homeschoolers like Thiel College.
I was compensated for my time to write this post. I was not required to write a positive review and all opinions are my own.
Thiel College: A Great Choice for Homeschoolers
Thiel College is located in the small community of Greenville in Mercer County, Pa. The campus is just a 90-minute drive from both Pittsburgh and Cleveland. Both cities are urban centers with plenty of opportunities for internships, service learning, educational trips and entertainment. Thiel College is only a 40-minute drive from Youngstown, Ohio, which combines large city opportunity with more rural settings around it.
Thiel’s unique location allows students and visitors to enjoy both the wonders of nature abundant in the western Pennsylvania countryside, including a myriad of outdoor activities, and take advantage of the dynamic cultural experiences offered in nearby cities.
Thiel College boasts many great features and awards that homeschool families will appreciate:
- 11:1 student-faculty ratio

Accelerated Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree Program
One of the programs that especially caught my attention is the accelerated 5-year Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree pathway program so that students can reach their goals faster. Students can complete their Bachelor’s Degree at Thiel and earn their Master’s in as little as 11 months.
The accelerated program is available for the following majors, listing the Bachelor’s Degree first with the accompanying Master’s Degree:
- Communication Sciences and Disorders/Speech-language Pathology
- Business and Accounting/MBA
- All other majors/Communication and Leadership
- Physician Assistant/Physician Assistant
- Psychology/Clinical Mental Health Counseling
Dual Enrollment at Thiel College
Another consideration for homeschool families is the possibility of participating in a dual enrollment program so that students can earn college credit while still in high school. This is a great way for teens to earn credits while testing the waters of college and choosing a major.
Thiel College supports homeschooling as a positive educational choice and welcomes homeschoolers to participate in the dual enrollment program.
